Le Château de la Gardiole – Un Espace d'art
The Château de la Gardiole is picturesquely situated 28 kilometres north of Nice in Coaraze, overlooking the mountain village, which is classified as one of the most beautiful and sunniest villages in France. Over several years, we have renovated the château, which used to be the summer residence of a noble family, and expanded it into an art centre. In September 2024, the château will open with its new purpose.
The dilapidated chapel was completely renovated and now houses paintings by the German painter Rolf Rose (o.T., 1984, Lock offen – Lock geschlossen, 1987 and Martins Mantel (2021), a Metrical Construction (1974) and Antipaintings by the Canadian artist David Rabinowitsch as well as the light sculpture m&k-III (1998) by molitor&kuzmin.
A ground-level sculpture Metrical Construction (1981) by David Rabinowitch and the sculpture VOID XXII (2018) are also located in the inner courtyard.

The south façade of the new gallery building was designed by the Dutch sculptor Riki Mijling with a steel sculpture with a rust patina.

The gallery is designed as a cube and will show temporary exhibitions of international artists.
A space for light art is being created in the cellar vaults. Works by Philippe Chitarrini, Christoph Dahlhausen, Margareta Hesse and molitor&kuzmin will be exhibited at the opening.
A sculpture square is being created outside, which will be extended over time to form a course.

Further information on the project and events will follow.
